North Marion High School (Florida)

North Marion High School is a high school located in Citra, Florida. The school's athletic teams are known as the Colts and the Varsity Football team competes in the FHSAA Class 5A Division. The school colors are Garnet and Gold. The school currently serves 1,400 students in grades 9 through 12. NMHS has the largest district by physical area in the Marion County School District.
Performing Arts at NMHS
There are many Ensembles included in the NMHS Performing Arts Department. The most recognized is the Marching Band which is known as the "Mighty Colt Regiment" boasting a membership of 80 plus members. The "Mighty Colt Regiment" competes in the Florida Marching Band Coalition (FMBC) Class 3A Division. The Performing Arts Department also consists of the following: Concert Band, Chorus, Jazz Band, "Phantasy" Color Guard, "Phantasmagoria" Indoor Percussion. George Turnour

Honorable George Turnour, CCS (1799–1843) was a British civil servant, scholar and a historian. He was member of the Ceylon Civil Service. He is known for his translation of the Mahavamsa, the Great Chronicle of Sri Lankan history which was published in 1837. Along with James Prinsep and Captain Edward Smith, he began to decipher the inscriptions on the first discovered Pillar of Ashoka. The Turnour Prize at Royal College Colombo is named after him.

Søborg Castle

Søborg Castle (Danish: Søborg Slot), in its heyday, was the strongest castle in Denmark, and was also used as a prison (Jens Grand was imprisoned here in the 13th century). It was inhabited until the Count's Feud in 1535, when it is speculated that it was destroyed. In 1577, the feudal tenant was granted permission to use the ruins as a quarry.
History
Søborg Castle is first known from the 12th century, when ownership of the castle passed from the king to the bishop of Roskilde.
Traditionally archbishop Eskil of Lund is said to have expanded the previous buildings to a real castle with defensive walls and a moat. As Eskil was in close contact with Esrum Abbey, it is considered likely that he lived nearby at Søborgby. Saxo Grammaticus wrote that Eskil had built a castle in the den lethriske mose, but it is unknown whether that is a reference to Søborg. No-one has so far been able to make a clear connection between Eskil and Søborg...

Multituberculata

The Multituberculata were a group of rodent-like mammals that existed for approximately one hundred and twenty million years—the longest fossil history of any mammal lineage—but were eventually outcompeted by rodents, becoming extinct during the early Oligocene. At least 200 species are known, ranging from mouse-sized to beaver-sized. These species occupied a diversity of ecological niches, ranging from burrow-dwelling to squirrel-like arborealism. Multituberculates are usually placed outside either of the two main groups of living mammals—Theria, including placentals and marsupials, and Monotremata—but closer to Theria than to monotremes.
History
The multituberculates existed for about 120 million years, and are often considered the most successful, diversified, and long-lasting mammals in natural history. They first appeared in the Jurassic, or perhaps even the Triassic, survived the mass extinction in the Cretaceous, and became extinct in the early Oligocene...

Allen C. Thompson Air National Guard Base Field is the home base of the Mississippi Air National Guard 172d Airlift Wing.
Overview
The 172d Airlift Wing provides the State of Mississippi support in the event of national emergency, maintains peace and order and supports civil defense and pre-attack planning.
On 20 November 1995 Congressman G. V. "Sonny" Montgomery announced that six operational C-17 Globemaster III aircraft will be assigned to the 172d Airlift Wing, Jackson Air National Guard Base.
Six C-17 Globemaster IIIs are assigned to the Mississippi Air National Guard. These six airlifters are assigned to support the Strategic Brigade Airdrop mission of the XVIIIth Airborne Corps. They train with this unit and support the 24-hour wheels-up requirement of the nation's contingency corps.
