P. M. Jayatilaka

P. M. Jayatilaka was a Sri Lanka Academic and an educationist.
Early life and education
He was born in Negombo, his father was a well-known Ayurvedic (native medicine) physician and his mother was Clara Garlin de Silva. His only sister was the late Deshabandu Dr Wimala de Silva founder of Devi Balika Vidyalaya Colombo.
Jayatilaka started schooling at Newstead Girls’ School Negombo and later on attended Wesley College, Colombo, Mahinda College. For his secondary studies he was admitted to Nalanda College Colombo. At Nalanda Jayatilaka excelled in both studies and sports and Captained Nalanda first XI cricket team in the years of 1927 and 1928.
He has the proud distinction of being the first palyer to score a century in the Ananda-Nalanda big match series in 1928 making 111 runs for Nalanda.
