Scoil Chaitríona Senior is a co-educational primary school in Renmore, Galway, Ireland. It provides education for children from 3rd to 6th class. It is located beside Scoil Chaitríona Junior, which caters for children from junior infants to 2nd class. The schools are run separately from each other and have different principals and staff. However, students from the junior school are immediately accepted into the senior school when they are going from 2nd class into 3rd.
History
Scoil Chaitríona Senior was founded on 1 July 1974. In its first year it enrolled 114 children. Mr. Pádraig O'Grady was the schools first principal. The three other teachers on the staff were Mrs. Máire Finnegan, Mrs. Maura O'Connor and Mr. Michael Kitt. As the building was not yet built, for the first year classrooms in Scoil Chaitríona Junior were used. On 1 July 1975, the 114 children and their teachers moved into their new school.
