Brezovica pri Predgradu (pronounced [ˈbɾeːzɔvitsa pɾi ˈpɾeːdɡɾadu]; German: Bresowitz) is a small settlement in the Municipality of Kočevje in southern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.
Geography
Brezovica pri Predgradu is located on the upper rim of the Poljane Valley (Slovene: Poljanska dolina) along the road from Kočevje to Črnomelj. It includes the hamlet of Zaderc (German: Saderz) half a kilometer south of the main settlement. There are several springs and caves in the area. Brezovica Spring (Brezoviški studenec) is below Straža Hill, and Klinlehl Cave stands above it. West of this is Miner's Cave (Rudniška jama), from which a spring feeds the creek in the Vimolj Gully (Vimoljski jarek). Miner's Cave was a source of coal before the Second World War.
